Imagine a garden as a drawing you can walk into. At Versailles, André Le Nôtre created a landscape for Louis XIV in which trees, paths and water form a large composition. Long axes carry the eye into the distance. Symmetry creates order, while other parts of the gardens offer different views and surprises. For the king, the gardens were an important part of the residence. Their creation required extensive work on the terrain and continuing care. Picture a plan in which every path is a line and every group of trees a shape. Now imagine stepping into it. Geometry becomes a walk, and the walk becomes a personal experience. Here, the landscape is part of the palace’s story.
